Strange thing on my Laptop.

When i switch on my Laptop and the homepage has loaded i get a square at the top of the screen with a hand and a finger pointing down and a no entry sign on it. It only stays on for a few seconds .This has just started recently. I run Windows 10, i have run a virus scan and the scan reports no problem, anyone else have this. Its got me puzzled. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Go into add and remove programs and check whats installed recently remove any recent program.

Run CrapCleaner then run Malwarebytes to remove any unwanted downloads.
Also update your VC and run full scan just in case.

Done that Mal but both CC say no threats found, downloaded Malwarebytes, same result. Strange one this.

Thank you all, i will give what you suggest a try.

There is a windows OS DLL file which can be replaced with a fake file to do similar thing. I'll see if I can find the info.

Can you take a picture of what pops up John i have some sort of stop sign with my pop up blocker, you could do a system restore and restore the laptop back a month or so.

Use snipping tool which is built into windows 10 to grab a picture of it

Thanks Lee, i would have to do a short vid i think as the thing only stays on for a very few seconds, good idea about system restore, never thought of that. Iv'e stuck a peice of tape over the camera lens too in case its taking photos.

Fixed it, i had to reset my laptop tho, had to do a lot of work after reload but it was worth it, got rid of that box with finger pointing down and no entry sign, hope it stays away.

Problem solved, i decided to take my laptop to PC World to see if they knew what the strange thing was popping up on the screen, they knew what it was straight away, i somehow had managed to disable the touchpad, they enabled it, problem solved, no charge, I didn't know you could disable/enable the touchpad. You can enable/disable the touchpad with function key F7.
